SPECIAL ANOUNCEMENT Siam Sinfonietta Mahler Concert — changes because of Covid-19 The 10th Birthday Concert of Mahler 3 was rescheduled from last March to July 6th. However, the government's Covid-19 administration has yet to approve the new seating plan for Thailand Cultural Center, and Grace Echauri, the mezzo-soprano for Mahler 3, is not yet able to fly into Bangkok because of travel restrictions for incoming visitors from North America. Also, the choirs that could be joining may or may not be able to fly in from abroad. The Thailand Cultural Center has given us a new date for doing this concert, August 19th. However, we still do not know whether a singer from Mexico will be able to come to Bangkok by that date. To be on the safe side and to not keep all the Mahler fans waiting, we are changing the program to Mahler's Seventh Symphony, the "Song of the Night," which is almost as vast as the third, but doesn't require imported singers. No. 7 is one of the rarest of Mahler's symphonies and received its Thai premiere with Siam Philharmonic eight years ago. It is a massive work, full of mystery, dark magic, and the sounds of nature, and ending with a soaring, triumphant finale which some have seen as ironic. If you have already booked a ticket, you'll automatically be rebooked on the new date, but your seat may be changed to the closest seat that will comply with government seating rules. If you are unable to come, you may request a refund by contacting us directly.
